One-hour news discussion sessions held three times

News & Management Group
A two-part
lesson run once a week by Paul Arkwright (Wednesdays 7.00 - 9:30pm)
Part A:
News Discussion Group (1¼ hrs) 7.00pm - 8.15pm
- Debate
on recent international and local news events.
- Debate on
general ethical issues.
- Discussion
of Force-related problems.
- Update on
recent EI discussion topics and final board questions.
- Guided group
discussion and summary of such issues.
- Handout
on latest EI discussion topics / current affairs.
- Immediate
feedback on group and individual performances.
- Discussion
of specific techniques for particular exercises.

Part B:
Management Exercise (1¼ hrs) 8.15pm - 9.30pm
- One management
exercise as used in the E.I.
- Immediate
feedback on group and individual performances.
- Discussion
of specific techniques for particular exercises.
- Detailed
feedback on management exercises from previous sessions.
- 1.5 hr sessions
conducted in groups of similar size to the E.I.

3. Written
Test Preparatory Lessons
1-hour lessons
run once a week to develop English skills and help candidates become familiar
with the content and format of the civil service written examination.
Saturdays 1.30pm

Skills Developed:
Vocabulary, Grammar, Sentence Structure, Test Related Skills - reading
comprehension, summary sentences, summary writing, editing & proofreading,
cloze test, essay writing, aptitude test & timing.

Available at
any time and on any day Monday - Saturday (subject to availability of
teachers). All lessons tailored to suit the individual needs of candidates;

specific lesson times confirmed before each lessons. All four lessons
must be taken within one calendar month).
