This course provides students with practice in the type of conversations they are likely to come across in everyday situations.

Topics covered include:

  • Restaurant. Ordering food, making complaints, giving compliments, etc.
  • Hotels. Making reservations, ordering room service etc.
  • Bars. Ordering drinks, social English etc.
  • Meeting people for the first time. Introducing yourself and making a good impression
  • Conversations with Westerners. Talking to foreigners - differences in culture etc.
  • Dealing with money. Changing money, banks etc.
  • Going on holiday. Booking a flight, going on a tour, giving directions etc.
  • Expressing your feelings. Saying what you mean! - how to tell people you are annoyed, happy, sad, confused etc.
  • Health. Visiting the doctor, dentist and hospitals. Symptoms, illnesses and diseases - describing what's wrong.
